Question

Will tretinoin fix hormonal acne?

Partly — tretinoin clears the clogged-pore layer of hormonal acne but does nothing about the androgen driver. Most adult women see 60 to 80% improvement on tretinoin 0.025% to 0.05% over 3 months. Pure hormonal cases usually need an anti-androgen on top. Oral spironolactone 50 to 200 mg daily is the standard add-on. Studies show 50 to 100% breakout reduction in women on spironolactone. Combined oral contraceptives are the other anti-androgen lever. For active flares, a microneedle patch like ZitSticka or Rael Microcrystal handles the surfacing cyst while the systemic treatments do the longer work.
